The impact of water to hardening of Stelpant polyurethane paint materials

The hardening and moisture absorption kinetics of “Steelpaint GmbH” (Germany) materials, namely, Stelpant-PU-Zinc, Stelpant-PU-Combination, Stelpant-PU-Mica and the systems based on them has been analyzed. It is established that the process of coating hardening in the open air and in the distilled water takes place in the first 48 hours and does not involve inherent differences in physicochemical and mechanical properties of the coatings. Stelpant films obtained in the open air and under the exposure of water and atmospheric moisture present an efficient anticorrosion protection of steel structures.
