On the mechanism of inhibiting action of phosphate and fluoride additions on corrosion of stainless steels in highly-oxidizing environments

By means of XPES and SEM with combination of polarization measurements and corrosion tests the inhibition action of fluoride (KF) and phosphate (KH 2PO 4) additions on corrosion of austenitic stainless steels in highly-oxidizing environments has been studied. On the basis of the experimental data obtained the mechanism of their inhibiting action on corrosion was discussed.
