Inhibition of Corrosion and Hydrogenation of Steel in Hydrogen Sulfide Media by Volatile Amines

Protective effect of amines against corrosion and hydrogenation of steel in the environments simulating conditions of gas-condensate fields has been studied in the paper. It is shown that primary amines are inferior to the secondary and tertiary ones in the level of steel protection. Although the best inhibitors among the studied amines are able to significantly inhibit corrosion and loss of plasticity of steels in the liquid and vapor phases, they can be practically used only in relatively narrow range of concentration of hydrogen sulfide.
