The moisture permeability, viscosity-temperature characteristics and protective efficacy of fresh and waste Mobil-1 oil were studied. It is shown that the protective efficiency of oils with respect to corrosion of St3 steel in 0.5 M NaCl solution is not large and does not exceed 45 %. Insertion of 5 wt. % Emulgin into Mobil-1 waste oil allows to suppress almost completely the St3 steel corrosion in these conditions.
