A review of the research in the field of microbiological contamination corrosion on metals is represented. The data of research defines the metals corrosion mechanisms when exposed to bacteria and products of their metabolism and the
influence of bio-corrosion on performance of equipment for industrial use. It is shown that the bio-corrosion prones carbon steels, alloy steels and non-ferrous metals and moreover biological corrosion leads to the most dangerous form of corrosion, namely, the local corrosion. This type of corrosion is widely-spread, and in different countries of America and Europe corrosion is caused by identical groups of microorganisms – nitrilicious, tinavie, sulphate reducing and iron bacteria. A ranging of the propensity of metals to bio- contamination and fouling was performed. In this review there are formulated the targets of bio-corrosion mechanisms research of metallic alloys for aviation purposes and the directions
of methods of development and means of anticorrosion protection.
