The effect of sodium tungstate and malic acid additives in a glycine solution for nickel electroless deposition on the composition, morphology, and structure of the Ni-W-P coatings is studied. It is shown that inclusion of tungsten into the coating results in the coating surface smoothening and also in a change of the structure from X-ray amorphous to a mixed-type structure that is intermediate from amorphous crystalline to nanocrystalline.
